NAC: GBR - Microlights
1) Introduction
Since the deregulation (from airworthiness) of single seat microlights, this continues to grow in popularity. Microlight sales are not strong but single seat types are increasing.
2) Sport in your country in 2015
A successful National League with 5 competitions. The website is at:

3) Regulatory and legal issues
No changes
What are the legal MTOW weight limits in your country for:
Microlights: 450 or 472,5 kg with rescue system
Autogyros: 560 kg
4) Statistics
Name of association: British Microlight Aircraft Association (BMAA)
Number of members in your association 3900
New licences issued in the last year: 366
Number of aircraft: 1856 valid permits plus deregulated single seat (numbers are not recorded)
Total flying hours in 2015 : Estimate of 113,000 hours, average 63 per aircraft.
Accident statistics: BMAA does not collect data. Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) reported three fatal accidents, each with one fatality. Two accidents with serious injury.
