Unable to render embedded object: File (abg logo 2.jpg) not found. If you are a Paramotor pilot from one of the 45 OCA Asian nations then this is your opportunity to represent your nation in a prestigious international event with rather a high profile because of the relationship between the organizers and the Olympic movement.

A message was sent to all FAI member NACs on 26 May 2011 explaining what the event is all about and the procedure for entering a team.

You cannot enter yourself! It must be done by your National Olympic Committee (NOC) in association with your FAI member Aero Club (NAC).

If your nation is not in the [list of entries], your job right now is to make sure your NAC gets in touch with your NOC and asks them please to register with the Games organizers (HABGOC) that your country is interested in entering a team in the Powered Paraglider event.

This is all your NAC and NOC need to do right now, but they do need to do it soon. HABGOC need to know this for planning purposes but your NAC and NOC are not making any commitment at this stage, they are just expressing an interest in entering a team in this event, that's all.

HABGOC do not need to know things like Athlete names until the beginning of 2012.

But you won't be able to enter at all unless your NOC tells HABGOC quite soon they are interested to enter this event.

Next steps

Once your NOC has told HABGOC they might be entering a team then your preparations can start.

  • Since it is CIMA's job to provide technical assistance to HABGOC for the Powered Paraglider event, we will be publishing here some tasks representative of the tasks which will be run at the Games and which you can try at home. These can be used by NACs as an aid to selecting the team they will be recommending to their NOC. Since we want all competing pilots to be adequately competent, the important thing is that all these pilots must be capable of achieving the recommended minimum performance in each of these tasks.
  • The local regulations and tasks for the event will be published in about October 2011.
  • The deadline for NOCs to submit Pilot names to HABGOC is 31 January 2012.
  • All competing pilots must have a FAI Sporting licence issued by their NAC, there must therefore be an on-going co-operation between NACs and NOCs in the selection of National Teams.
  • All competing pilots must have adequate 3rd party insurance, (the required minimum will be stated in the local regulations). Medical insurance is highly recommended.
  • Teams will have to plan how they are going to get their equipment there. The Organizers will probably provide assistance with Customs Etc. Further details will be included in bulletins nearer the time.
