Slalom tasks are essentially a timed course around a number of large inflatable pylons. Scoring is based on the shortest time to complete the course, penalties are applied for touching the ground, taking the wrong course, Etc. It takes a good pilot between 35 and 90 seconds to complete any of the standard slalom tasks.

The 2014 Asian Beach Games [local regulations and task catalogue|cima:2014 ABG - Phuket] are an example of a set of rules set up for instant scoring.
